Brown sugar

Water

Butter or butter substitute

Cream of tartar

Vinegar

Vanilla

Puffed rice
Directions
- Combine water, sugar, cream of tartar, vinegar, and butter.
- Boil to hard crack stage (285 - 290 F).
- Remove from fire.
- Add flavoring and rice.
- Stir until all the grains are coated.
- Pour into well-buttered pan.
- Spread in a thin sheet.
- Let cool.
- Break in pieces.
