Au Gratin Potatoes Recipe

Shredded natural sharp
Cheddar cheese(8 ounces)

Fine dry bread crumbs
Paprika

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Prepare potatoes as directed.
  3. Cut into enough thin slices to measure about 4 cups.
  4. Heat margarine in 2-quart saucepan over medium heat.
  5. Cook onion in margarine about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  7. Cook, stirring constantly, until bubbly; remove from heat.
  8. Stir in milk and 1-1/2 cups of the cheese.
  9. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  10. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  11. Spread potatoes in ungreased 1-1/2-quart casserole.
  12. Pour cheese sauce over potatoes.
  13. Bake uncovered 1 hour.
  14. Mix remaining cheese and the bread crumbs.
  15. Sprinkle over potatoes; sprinkle with paprika.
  16. Bake 15 to 20 minutes longer or until top is brown and bubbly
