Directions
- * Any herb can be substitute for the rosemary.
- Prepare and steam artichokes as directed.
- While artichokes are steaming, heat margarine until melted.
- Stir in rosemary and lemon juice.
- Pluck leaves out one at a time.
- To serve, dip base of leaf into rosemary mixture.
- Don't let the appearance of an artichoke mystify you; they are very easy to eat.
- Pull out a leaf and draw it between your teeth, scraping off the meaty portion.
- Continue until all the leaves are gone and you see the small center cone of light green leaves.
- Pull off, or cut the leaves from the cone, slice off and discard the fuzzy choke and a meaty portion will be visible.
- Savor this final treat - it's the heart of the artichoke.
